Twenty-one seniors honored with National Merit Commended Honors

Twenty-one members of SPA's Class of 2018 have earned "Commended" honors as part of the National Merit competition, meaning that they rank among the top 5% of high school students in terms of PSAT scores. The twenty-one Commended students are in addition to the seven SPA National Merit Semifinalists named at the beginning of September; 28% of the Class of 2018 has been honored by National Merit so far this year. The twenty-one Commended students are:

Commended Students are those in the top five percent of the more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Although they will not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, the 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are recognized for the exceptional academic promise and distinct excellence.
