The works of student artists in grades 7-12 have earned numerous awards and honors in two state-wide arts competitions: the Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards and the Les Farrington "Best 100."

The 2016-17 Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards (MSAA) recognized the outstanding work of 29 SPA student artists. In total, 49 SPA pieces/portfolios were chosen for awards out of 4300 individual entries and 150 portfolio entries submitted by high school students across the state. There are three levels to the MSAA awards: Gold Key awards honor work of the highest distinction, and these pieces are included in a Regis Center exhibition and continue on to the national competition. Silver Key awards are for works of high distinction and are also included in the Regis Center exhibition. Honorable Mentions are pieces noted by the jurors as deserving of merit. Fourteen of the SPA student pieces will be on exhibit at the Regis Center for Art, and six individual works and one portfolio will be going on to the National competition.
